Wild Weaving from the Hedgerow Too good to leave ....

Wild and tangled vine that caught our attention
Ever gone past something a few times and not seen the potential ?
Suddenly spotted it in a different way ?  suddenly it wasn't just an artistic photograph just waiting to happen, suddenly it wasn't just a vine to trim but potential weaving material - know what I mean ?
this has almost woven itself - how hard can it be ?
Now I am no weaver - in fact the weaver in the family has taken a definite disinterest in my many hints !  How hard can it be ?  The vine has practically woven itself - all I need to do is to trim if off and loop it together - surely ?
Artistic, twining vine just begging to be made into something
Well apparently, it is not quite so easy as I thought it would be - after looping it this way and that my weaver disinterested party is now pretty interested to see how a non basket weaver will attack this wee problem and exactly how the finished product will look.  I can see him practically sniggering up his sleeve trying to keep a straight face at my attempts.   When you can't weave a basket what do you do then ?
Chuck all the rules of basket making out the window and go for freeform or wild weaving, that's what and I reckon its pretty dam good !  Its original, its unique, its artistic and it actually looks like a basket and its free - no more buying baskets.  I think even the basket weaver was impressed but maybe he will never, ever admit it and he did show me how the handle should go !

Voila !     Be among the first to admire my efforts - Turns out the vine is a Chilean Jasmine covered in beautiful white flowers now and the self woven part is completely covered in leaves so you can't see its gorgeous woven form.
THE Finished Wild Basket !!

Permaculture Garden Visit

We went recently for a visit to a local eco village and saw some permaculture gardens and came back inspired to switch ours around (again) They had quite a few compost heaps, and lots of interesting ideas, like climbing frames for plants and  companion planting

Curious Neighbour

Seems neighbours are still peering over the fence even in the country ! But its pretty neat to have four legged neighbours and friendly as well.  We had forgotten how curious cows are !  One of our ex-farmer told us to put a radio outside and the whole herd will arrive to see what is happening. get your own four legged curious neighbours and live the good life  in the countryside
